Germany has reacted to the situation in Kosovo. German Foreign Ministry spokesman Martin Giese stressed the importance of functional institutions in the country.

“Kosovo needs functional institutions,” he said. According to the German government, this is also important for the continuation of the European Union-led normalization dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.

"The integration of Serbia and Kosovo into the EU can only be achieved through this normalization dialogue," Giese said.

The reaction comes after Kosovo's president, Vjosa Osmani, dissolved the Kosovo Assembly. Previously, the Kosovo Parliament failed to elect the country's president.
