A shocking development has engulfed the family of the founder of fashion giant Mango, as Jonathan Andic, the son of billionaire businessman Isaac Andic, has been arrested by Catalan authorities as part of an investigation into his father's death. According to Spanish media, Jonathan Andic is being questioned by investigators in connection with the incident that occurred in December 2024, when Isaac Andic died after falling from a cliff near the Montserrat area in Catalonia. Initially, the case was considered a tragic accident, but the investigation has taken a different direction, as authorities are now examining the possibility of a murder.
The Andic family had previously stated that they fully believed in Jonathan's innocence, while the court hearing the case has maintained complete confidentiality over the investigation. Isaac Andic, the founder of Mango and one of the richest people in Spain, lost his life during a family hike in the caves of Montserrat. He fell from a cliff more than 100 meters high, while his son, Jonathan, was with him.
According to reports, Jonathan was the person who notified authorities about the incident. Initially, the police treated it as an accident, but later investigators found inconsistencies in the victim's statements and data from the victim's phone, which led to the case being reopened as a possible murder investigation in October 2025. Currently, Jonathan Andic, who also holds the position of vice president of the company, is under official investigation.
From immigrant to fashion billionaire
Isaac Andic was born in Istanbul in 1953, to a Sephardic Jewish family originally from Thessaloniki. In the 60s, the family moved to Catalonia, where he began selling shirts on the streets of Barcelona. In 1984, he founded Mango with his brother Nachman, turning the brand into a global empire with more than 2,500 stores in 110 countries.
Known for his reserved life, Andic avoided public appearances and interviews, while he was considered the main rival of Amancio Ortega, the founder of Zara. His fortune was estimated at around $4.5 billion by Forbes magazine. Meanwhile, the investigation into his death continues, while public opinion in Spain remains shocked by the mystery surrounding the end of one of the most famous figures in the European fashion industry.
