The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, in his speech during the protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office, accused the government of corruption and warned of civic mobilization to defend Albania's European path.
"A people that suffered for centuries, that knew the most inhumane regimes and the most extreme poverty, we cannot close the door now to the thefts committed by Edi Rama and his criminal organization. No, never," said Berisha.
He stressed that the citizens of Albania will not accept a government that, according to him, is a government of crime, a government of drugs, a government of thieves, anti-Albanian and anti-European.
Berisha also invited the police to join the citizens' protest on February 10, emphasizing that tomorrow is a great day for the future, prosperity and freedom of the country.
"EU integration is the most brilliant future for Albania, because it will bring freer, more protected citizens and a more developed country. Nothing separates us from this path. Tomorrow, our voice must be heard in Brussels and around the world," said Berisha.
Sali Berisha: Is there a more heinous crime than this? A people who suffered for centuries, a people who knew the most inhumane regimes, the most extreme poverty, a people who waited and wait with the greatest impatience as the achievement of this nation's life, integration into the EU, let's close the door now to the thefts that Edi Rama has committed, to the thefts that his criminal organization has committed.
No never.
So I am here to pledge to you, to the Albanians, that nothing in the world will be able to stop the citizens of this country from overthrowing the government of crime, the government of drugs, the government of thieves, the anti-Albanian government, the anti-European government.
Friends, so tomorrow is a big day.
It is a day of Albanians for Europe.
It is a day for Albanians for their future.
It is a day for Albanians for their prosperity, for their wealth, for their freedom.
If, we solemnly declare to the Albanians that for the opposition, integration into the EU is the most brilliant future, because we believe that integration means freer citizens, more prosperous citizens, safer citizens, a more developed Albania.
Nothing separates us from this path.
Therefore, tomorrow I invite the citizens of Tirana, this blessed city, to all come out to the square.
I invite Albanians to unite, to raise our voices, to let our voices be heard in Brussels and around the world, because nothing will separate us from our goal.
