The German Parliament (Bundestag) held a commemorative session for the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica massacre, where over 8.000 Bosniaks were killed in July 1995.

The session was attended by MPs, two genocide survivors and ambassadors from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo. The Bundestag members strongly condemned Serbia's approach to the bloody wars in the former Yugoslavia. Michael Brand, a CDU member, stressed that Serbia, supported by Russia, has been waging wars since 1991.

He called Serbian President Vučić the heir to Milošević's policies and accused him of having ties to Putin. Jasmina Hostert, a Sarajevo-born MP who was wounded in the war, gave a moving speech about the pain and importance of facing the past.

During the session, an AfD MP relativized the genocide, which was strongly opposed. This anniversary brought the need for justice and peace in the Balkans back to international attention.
