A fire was detected this Sunday afternoon behind Kodra e Krastës, in Elbasan, creating a risk of the flames spreading towards residential areas.
The fire broke out near the apartments, and the situation required immediate intervention by the fire service, as two apartments were directly endangered by the advancing flames.
To cope with the situation, 3 fire engines and 12 firefighters were deployed, who intervened on the ground to isolate the hearth and extinguish the flames. The timely intervention made it possible to stop the spread of the fire and avoid a more serious situation near the apartments. The battle with the flames lasted about two hours and fortunately the situation was brought under full control, avoiding the burning of the apartments.
The operation focused particularly on neutralizing the fires and creating a security perimeter, in order to prevent the flames from advancing towards residential buildings.
The risk of fires in the Elbasan region, as elsewhere, remains high during this period, due to high temperatures and conditions that favor the rapid spread of flames. In areas near homes, green spaces, and dry vegetation, even a small fire can turn into a dangerous situation within minutes.
The Elbasan Fire Service repeatedly calls on citizens every day to show maximum caution and responsibility, avoiding starting fires in open spaces and any action that could cause a fire.
Especially on days with high temperatures, flammable waste, careless cigarette butts or the use of fire near areas with dry vegetation can cause serious consequences for homes, property and the environment. This summer's numerous fires have caused extraordinary damage in rural and urban areas.
