In an interview on the show "Oponencje", in News24, former police chief Mit'hat Havari spoke about crime in the country. During the interview, Havari said that in Albania, there are organized crime cells, adding that these are very dangerous.
He also commented on the statements of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who in his media appearances has put pressure on the court regarding the Balluku case.
"We are not in the Corleone system. There are organized crime cells here. More than 2 people is organized crime. The crime of Elbasan is organized crime. These are dangerous, just as dangerous as creating a mafia structure like the Italians had," he said.
"Forget my cell phone. But who are you, who are you telling to forget their cell phone? Who are you threatening? He doesn't understand that this country has smart boys and has blocked the way for them to take the roads of the world. Albania has been reduced to this state. He has insulted the intelligence of Albanian society. He doesn't understand that when he takes them under his protection, he automatically compromises them. The first version that he can do as he did with Erion Veliaj falls down... Those there who abused funds took Veliaj for nothing. We don't come from March and we see reality very well. And if you want to change anything. They haven't left me for more than 1 year. If Rama wanted to protect that girl, he should have told her to resign. The fact that he takes her under his protection and puts pressure, if they listen to me, they won't find anything... Politics has threatened him, Meta says dum dum, this old man too", Havari expressed.
