A historic record has been set in France due to continuous rainfall – the rains, which began on January 14, have continued for 36 days.

This was stated in a statement by the BFMTV channel.

"It has rained in France for 36 consecutive days, which is a historical record. From January 14 to February 18, continuous rain fell on the mainland of European France," the television channel noted.

According to the French meteorological service, the previous record was set in 2023, when it rained for 32 consecutive days between October and November.

The meteorological service said the highest level of red alert has been declared in four departments of the country - Charente-Maritime, Maine-et-Loire, Gironde, as well as Lod and Garonne - due to the threat of flooding amid heavy rainfall.
