The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has declared that the opposition will continue its efforts to divide Fushë-Krujë and Krujë into two separate municipalities.
During a political event in Kruja, Berisha criticized the Rama government for the economic situation in the country, accusing the majority of increasing prices and worsening living conditions.
According to him, Albanians are facing rising food prices, fuel costs, and expenses for medicines and health services.
"Albania expects change today more than ever. Albania calls for change today more than ever. Edi Rama is the black past of this country," Berisha declared.
He said that the Democratic Party must renew and strengthen its structures, also appreciating the commitment of local leaders and activists.
Referring to the territorial organization, Berisha stated that the DP will continue to demand that Fushë-Kruja be a separate municipality, while Kruja maintains its status as a municipality.
Part of Berisha's speech:
Democrats of Kruja, citizens of this blessed city, a very heartfelt greeting and the greatest respect, the most boundless gratitude to you.
But, dear allies, dear deputies, leader of the Durrës district, members of the leadership, deputy of the area, deputies of Durrës, today we are here at an event, at a very important event of the Democrats of Kruja, but also of the chairman of this branch, Aulon Bey Kalaja, whom I must congratulate very warmly.
Aulon Kalaja, to tell the truth, became the forerunner of that process, of the process of renewal of the DP, so vital and decisive for the fate of this party, so vital and decisive for the fate of the country.
In this context, I must tell you a truth: on my agenda there was, let's call it the Pulpit of Renewal, but I am pleased that we are inaugurating this activity, this new effort, here in Kruja.
And there is no second place that can inspire more than Kruja for a great effort.
Friends, we as the DP went through difficult times.
But today we cannot boast of what we went through, nor of what we did in the past.
Today, time calls us to respond to this dramatic situation, to provide a solution to this great upheaval, this dramatic situation in which the Edi Rama regime has reduced Albania and Albanians.
There is no invasion in history that has dealt a more severe blow to Albanian identity than Edi Rama's in 10 years.
In 10 years, 47 percent of Albanians left Albania for one major reason, due to his decision to enrich himself in a crazy, illegal way.
Because of the transformation of your finances, the taxes you pay, not into salaries, not into pensions, not into infrastructure, not into services, hospitals and schools, but into bank accounts hidden in offshore banks.
Today, the Albanian citizen cannot imagine, and I kindly ask you to remember this word, that time will prove what Edi Rama has done to Albanians.
No savage invader has ever brought this upon this country's public assets and funds.
In an act of total immorality, determined to plunder everything and anything, without any limits, they have created the most incredible forms of stealing from Albanian citizens, their hard-earned money, stealing public assets, turning Albania into a fiefdom of thieves who drive out Albanians every day.
This demographic shock is the most terrible blow we have received from any war.
Never before have we diminished to the point where our birth rates are down to those of 100 years ago. It's never been recorded like it is today.
I have experienced it, I was a doctor, and to tell you the truth, I experienced with great compassion the chronic hunger and extreme poverty of people when I gave them the prescription and they didn't take it because they couldn't afford the medicine.
When entire massive areas received 1 kg of sugar, bread, and 1 kg of salt and experienced illness.
Then total, crazy hypercollectivism was established.
But today, let's be sure that there are tens of thousands of Albanians who are counting their bread. Even with the pension they receive, they cannot provide themselves with two weeks of normal food.
With the pension they receive, they go to the store and find prices more expensive than in Dallas, New York, Berlin, or Rome.
We will never stop our efforts to make Fushë Kruja a separate municipality and Kruja a separate municipality.
Can you imagine it? This is the reality. An alienated Albania, a total alienation of its citizens.
Listen, even during the dictatorship, what did they say? No one dies for bread here. Edi Rama has used the same words, the same expressions repeatedly.
I'm dying for bread, I'm dying for medicine, I'm dying in the hospital.
This is where Albania has fallen, at a time when its potential and wealth are incomparable.
Look, food prices increased in Albania from year to year 6 times more than in Rome, in Berlin, in EU countries.
Oil prices among the highest in the world.
Extreme cynicism.
Not a single penny reduces the food tax.
Extreme cynicism.
He removed farmers' compensation for oil, which in Albania is sold 40 to 50 percent more expensive than in Kosovo, than in Macedonia, where they don't produce a single liter of oil and where a good portion of the oil is received at our ports.
This is Albania.
Albania expects change today more than ever.
Albania calls for change today more than ever.
Edi Rama is the dark past of this country.
Edi Rama is in a major downfall and upheaval.
But Albanians expect from the DP on one condition, a more powerfully renewed DP.
You saw this documentary, it was only partially one aspect, the aspect of Aulon Bey Kala as a citizen, I never forget when the earthquake hit your district.
Before the state, he set up tents and I followed him every day, distributing food, doing everything to ease the terrible pain that the collapse of their homes caused them.
I saw him in the fires, he became the main spokesperson not of the DP, but of the citizens.
And in fact, for these reasons, nowhere did the Pulpit of Renewal deserve to be held earlier than in Krujë, and this is your great merit.
We were two branches, fighting over unification. So we united.
But I guarantee the citizens of Fushë Kruja that we will never stop our efforts to make Fushë Kruja a separate municipality and Kruja a separate municipality.
God has made Kruja the capital, it does not need any other center. And it stands on its own as a proud municipality.
But the rules impose this solution and Aulon led this process together with Andia and with you, and today we are in the finalization of a stage, the finalization of the elections of the main leaders.
