Former Interior Minister Sandër Lleshaj has commented on the political developments in the country, focusing on SPAK's accusations against former Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku. He said that the solution to this deep political impasse is resignations. In an interview with News24, Lleshaj stopped short of his resignation, adding that his decision was called absurd at the time.
"I have not followed these developments and the recent changes that have occurred with high intensity. But the time for change has come. The only one who loses from this noise is Albania itself and the Albanians. A way should have been found to get out of this deadlock. Several things have become complicated. Therefore, the best thing is the political path. It solves them better. Resignation is a golden mechanism to get out of the deadlock. I have tried this myself. I know what it means. It is an act of responsibility, to pave the way for a new situation. Through resignations, the situation must be overcome, which burdens the country unnecessarily. And dealing with these things that produce costs is useless. I resigned myself, I have declared it since then. If someone had asked me, I would not have given it. Because I know if Mrs. Balluku was under pressure, then it is not called such. Resignations should be respected, not blocked. I do not know what circumstances there were that Rama did not accept it "Ballukun," said Lleshaj.
Asked about the fact whether Balluku is being politically protected by Rama, he said; "This is a matter of individual preferences, for the protection of the family or not. Political parties protect their members. Everyone in these situations, whether Balluku should resign or not, is their own responsibility. Resignation is a message to say that you are not connected to that 'devil' of the chair you are sitting in. I recommend resignation as the first response, not the second."
