Roma coach Gian Piero Gasperini has reflected on his successful spell in charge of Atalanta. Ahead of the match against his former team, he spoke about the challenges, achievements and philosophy of play that made Atalanta one of the most attractive teams in Italian football, and now he aims to bring the same winning mentality to Roma.

"In Rome, there is everything you need to do well. In Bergamo, I succeeded because the environment around me was united and the work of the club was extraordinary.

The small town also created an ideal atmosphere. We worked and built things together. Think of the transfers made and how the money was invested. The anomaly of Atalanta was that it played in Europe while still making a profit.

"It wasn't just thanks to me, but above all thanks to a very capable club, which worked in harmony with the coach. Then things changed a little, partly because the ownership changed...", said Gasperini.
