Perhaps her name does not mean much to the general public, but in the field of journalism Sidorela Gjoni has impressed with the interview she gave to Edi Rama today. It is difficult to bring the wounded beast into a "head-to-head" interview at the height of the eruption of the lava of the popular volcano. But it is a record for a journalist to come out of such an interview as fresh and confident as she started, without wounds and blue spots on her face despite the complexion, feet and terrifying tongue of a Prime Minister, with her angry mouth glued to the screen like in a catch match. We witnessed a journalism lesson that should be shown in schools, both in the form of the interview and in the intelligence of the questions that made Rama go off the rails. In terms of form, Sidorela was an example of journalism that must maintain its nerves and dignity even when faced with a male, macho, and powerful interviewee like the Prime Minister. It is a delicate exercise that requires extreme restraint when the politician attacks and insults the journalist not only for the questions he asks, but also as a person ad hominem. There are journalists who get through this difficult moment tactfully, with the idea that by bypassing the attack or calming the guest with words that please him, they will have the opportunity to finish the interview. We saw such a scenario with the American journalist from NBC News facing Trump on a farm in Wisconsin. She gained nothing. She was offended, she begged him, but he still left.

The special merit of the Albanian journalist in the face of Rama, who had already mistreated female journalists from EU countries two days ago, was that Sidorela Gjoni not only defended herself with completely calm nerves and a smile, but also preserved the moment to coolly thrust her spear at Rama like a theorist at a raging bull:

Foliage: You're raising nonsense in the air! It's scandalous what you're doing to Albanians who came out with good intentions to protest but are now hurt by these nonsense you're repeating.
Sidorela John: Mr. Prime Minister, my stupidity as you call it, does not bring any harm to Albanians. The real stupidity is to mock the troubles and concerns of Albanians and not my questions, Mr. Prime Minister, because for a journalist it is not a sin to ask questions...
Edi Rama: If so, I'm leaving, but you have to apologize to the public for the questions.
Sidorela John: I have no need to apologize. I have never offended the Albanian people with any of my decisions, and I have no choice, because I have never worked a day in my life in the state. I have never made a single mistake to apologize for.
Edi Rama: Look, you didn't make any mistakes.
Sidorela John: None! But someone who has been in power for 13-14 years and tells people that I need a little more time to have 24-hour water and electricity should apologize to the Albanian people. Please don't open this topic, nor that other topic where instead of answering the protesters you deal with bloggers. If you want, come and talk about all this, but in no way should I, a journalist, apologize to the people because once again I have not done anything at the expense of the Albanian people (like some others).

The content is as striking as the form of resistance
Beyond this snippet of the interview as a benchmark for the Prime Minister's vicious attacks and the journalist's uncompromising resistance, it is worth highlighting the professional content of the conversation. The journalist had skillfully prepared it to orient the Prime Minister on two separate topics in which he himself would sink headlong until he finally lost his temper and left the interview.
Sidorela put the first stone to Rama on the topic that he trumpets with force, according to which, there is no project for Zvërnec. Rama, with the same boldness as with European journalists, repeated as if with a syllable that there is no project on the table. With a smile, the journalist shows on the screen a document bearing Rama's signature dated January 28, 2025, which reads: Point 39. Building Permit for the facility: "Tourist resort on the Zvërnec Peninsula", Residential Block F1V2, F1V3, F1R6 located in Pishë Poro-Nartë, Municipality of Vlorë, with the developer company "Zvërnec South Adriatic Development" sh.pk

And the journalist who asks: can you explain to us, is a building permit issued without having a project?

The Prime Minister's face was one of confusion and another of disbelief, because he was revealing such a document with his own signature live. And he made a first catastrophic comment: "You are confusing the world, madam, with these papers and documents that are being thrown and cut."

Journalist: Yes, we got it from your administration!
Edi Rama: We should ask the relevant agency because there are often complications there. Give me a minute. I don't know what to say, I'll take a closer look. But there's no building permit or project, that's all I can say.
Journalist (ironically): If it's a mistake on the part of the institution that issued this letter, no problem, you clarified it.
Edi Rama (starts to lose his temper): No, it's not the institution in question's fault, it's just your fault.
Journalist: How so? I just told you that we got it from your institutions.
Edi Rama: Get me a building permit. Why are you confusing the public? Get me a document that is not a permit. Do you have another topic?

Except Sidorela was also keeping the second topic hot that would inflame Rama even more because the trap was even bigger.

The second question was quite simple. How does Rama consider the video of Ivanka Trump that has made the rounds of the world with ridicule, because there she says: I was swimming, I saw Sazan, I said I would take it and I took it. The question is, is Ivanka right? And in this case, can the Prime Minister explain to us how an island was given to her so easily, it is enough to swim there? Or, is it just a stupidity on Ivanka Trump's part?

With this question, Rama was doomed to be confused, because he could not answer either option. Neither the option that he himself had casually given the island, nor the option that Ivanka had in vain introduced.

From that moment on, the interview slipped from his hands. Rama, having no control over what he said, ended up abandoning the interview after personally attacking the journalist. Bravo Sidorela. She was the embodiment of the spirit of the protest, peaceful people, but determined to get answers until the end, until those responsible are held accountable…
