Germany plans to invest around 16 billion euros to increase the Bundeswehr's readiness for defense against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said this during a review of troops in Friesland.
"We are launching an action plan for UAVs," he said, specifying that it includes a whole complex of measures that have already begun to be implemented.
"This means that by the end of the decade we plan to invest approximately 16 billion euros in this field," the minister emphasized.
According to him, the agency is purchasing reconnaissance and attack drones, as well as means that can repel UAV attacks. Pistorius noted that when this technology is introduced to the troops, it is planned to act in a very strategic and deliberate manner. He noted that the main thing is to quickly and efficiently provide exactly what is needed and immediately test it in exercises.
It was previously reported that the German Flight Safety Service (DFS), together with the defense company Hensoldt and the Information and Communication Technology company Deutsche Telekom, plan to create a nationwide network for detecting and intercepting UAVs.
