At least eight people have died and 36 others have been injured in a massive fire that engulfed a shopping mall near the Iranian capital, Tehran. The incident occurred on Tuesday at the Argavan shopping mall in the city of Andisheh. The cause of the fire remains unclear, while authorities have launched an investigation to clarify the full circumstances of the incident.

Footage broadcast by Iranian media shows firefighters battling the flames as thick clouds of black smoke rise above the multi-storey building.

According to IRIB, so far there is no indication that the incident is related to the tense situation or conflicts in the region. Authorities are continuing operations on the ground, while the death toll may change in the coming hours.
