An investigation is underway into the circumstances of the deaths of two prisoners at Korydallos prison.
As announced by the General Secretariat for Anti-Crime Policy (GGAP), both men had participated since the beginning of March in a therapeutic detoxification program implemented at the detention center in collaboration with the National Organization for the Prevention and Treatment of Addictions (EOPAE).
The competent prosecution authority has been informed about the case, and an autopsy and toxicological analysis have been ordered to determine the cause of death.
The General Secretariat's Anti-Crime Policy Announcement states in detail:
"An investigation into the circumstances of the death of two prisoners at the Korydallos Correctional Center is underway."
The two prisoners participated since the beginning of March in a therapeutic detoxification program implemented at the Center in collaboration with the National Organization for the Prevention and Treatment of Addictions (EOPAE).
Following the incident, the competent health personnel were immediately informed and a team from the Organization went to the Correctional Center to assist in the investigation of the incidents. In the context of the checks carried out on the participants in the program, no findings emerged indicating a problem related to the process of administering therapeutic treatment.
It is noted that therapeutic programs are implemented with medical monitoring and in accordance with established protocols.

The preliminary investigation is being conducted by the relevant Police Department.
