The Greek Armed Forces have been put on alert following the discovery of an unmanned vessel in the Lefkada area, a case that is being handled with a high level of security by special services and military units.
According to preliminary information, the investigations have been taken over by the Underwater Operations Command, while authorities are carefully analyzing the technical characteristics of the vehicle and the equipment that was allegedly on it.
Military sources indicate that initial evidence indicates the presence of detonators and explosives, which raises suspicions that the vehicle may have been prepared for a possible attack.
Authorities are also investigating how the unmanned vessel arrived in Lefkada, with a possible scenario that it was transported by another maritime vehicle, as autonomous crossing over long distances is considered difficult by experts.
According to reports, the technology used resembles the well-known models of unmanned ships of the “Magura” type, developed in the context of the war in Ukraine. These vehicles use satellite navigation and long-range communication systems. The investigation continues under strict security conditions, while the Greek authorities have not yet issued an official statement on the possible origin of the vehicle or its objectives.
