A plane carrying passengers and crew members of the MV Hondius cruise ship has landed in the Netherlands.

The flight had departed from the island of Tenerife in Spain and had a total of 26 people on board, including passengers and crew members.

According to Dutch authorities, eight of them are Dutch citizens, while the rest include citizens from Belgium, Greece, Germany, Guatemala and Argentina.

Spanish civil protection authorities have announced that a suspected outbreak of the hantavirus virus has been identified on the ship, which has led to immediate isolation and evacuation measures.

All transported people are expected to be quarantined for about six weeks, according to health protocols of authorities in the Netherlands.
