US President Donald Trump has declared that a new secret weapon, which he calls the "Discombulator", was essential to the operation that led to the arrest of Nicolas Maduro.

Trump boasted that the mysterious weapon “made enemy equipment inoperable” when US helicopters swooped into Caracas on January 3 to arrest Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, on federal drug and weapons charges, an operation that ended without any loss of life on the American side.

"Discombobulator, I'm not allowed to talk about it, although I would very much like to," Trump said during an exclusive interview in the Oval Office.

"They failed to use any weapons, none of them worked," he said.

Trump commented on the weapon when asked about reports this week that the Biden administration purchased a pulsed energy weapon that is suspected of being the type that causes "Havana Syndrome."

Not much is known about the weapon, but these reports followed accounts from the ground in Venezuela describing how Maduro's gunmen were kneeling, "bleeding from their noses" and vomiting blood.

A member of Maduro's guard team reported that suddenly all radar systems were turned off without any explanation.

"The next thing we saw were drones, lots of drones, flying over our positions. We didn't know how to react," he said, adding that helicopters then appeared carrying about 20 American troops to the area.

The "discombulator" then addressed Maduro's defenders directly.
"At one point, they let out something; I don't know how to describe it. It was like a very intense sound wave. Suddenly I felt like my head was exploding from the inside," the witness said.

“We all started bleeding from our noses. Some were vomiting blood. We fell to the ground, unable to move. We couldn’t even get up after that sonic weapon – or whatever it was.”
