Kadir İnanır, one of the biggest names in Turkish cinema and an icon of the Yeşilçam period, has passed away at the age of 77.
The veteran actor passed away in the hospital where he was receiving treatment for pneumonia. He was admitted on May 14 after suffering health problems, and after six days in intensive care, he was intubated due to his worsening condition.
İnanır's death comes just days after he also lost his sister, Altun Arıca, who passed away on June 23.
Family members and authorities have also announced the funeral program. Tributes for the actor will be held on Friday at 13:00 PM at the Atatürk Cultural Center in Istanbul. The funeral prayer will then be held at the Barbaros Hayrettin Paşa Mosque, while Kadir İnanır will be taken to his final resting place at the Ulus Cemetery.
Kadir İnanır was considered one of the most important figures in Turkish cinema, with a career that lasted for decades and dozens of roles that made him one of the most beloved actors for the public in Turkey and beyond.

Produced 45 years ago and shown in Albania during the 80s, the film became a classic, while the characters Iljazi and Asya won the hearts of entire generations.
