A 35-year-old woman has been arrested as part of the police operation codenamed "Relay" on suspicion of transporting immigrants who intended to cross illegally towards European Union countries.

According to State Police structures, the operation was finalized by Traffic Investigation specialists in collaboration with the Lezha Police Department, after receiving information about the illegal activity.

Citizen E. Ç., 35 years old, resident of Rrogozhina, was arrested, who was caught red-handed near Lezha, while transporting 5 immigrants she had picked up in Vora.

Investigations suspect that she had taken 2500 euros from the migrants each, with the promise that she would facilitate their illegal crossing to Italy. During the operation, a BMW vehicle used to transport them was also seized.

Meanwhile, the procedural materials have been referred to the Prosecutor's Office for further action.
