Despite the rain and unstable weather, this weekend has once again brought heavy traffic flow to the city of Elbasan, creating long lines of vehicles and slow movement on the city's entrance and exit axes.

The situation has now become a common phenomenon on weekends, where Elbasan becomes one of the most problematic traffic points in the country, especially for vehicles moving from Tirana to the southeast or vice versa.

According to data from road traffic specialists, the number of vehicles traveling through the main segments of the city during the weekend reaches around 30 thousand vehicles, a significantly higher figure compared to normal days, where an average of 18 to 25 thousand vehicles circulate.

The largest flow was recorded at the entrance from the Tirana axis, in the Bradashesh area, as well as at the exits towards Librazhd and Korça, where drivers faced numerous delays and slow movement for several kilometers.

Although the rainfall was expected to reduce traffic, it seems that citizens have not given up on weekend trips, causing the roads to remain congested throughout the day.

Transport experts point out that Elbasan's current infrastructure can no longer cope with the high volume of vehicles, especially during weekends and festive periods. The construction of the Elbasan Bypass over the next two years is seen as one of the main solutions to ease traffic and avoid constant congestion in the city.

Meanwhile, the traffic police have increased their presence on the ground to manage the situation and avoid accidents or total blockages on the most problematic axes.
