A protest took place this Tuesday in front of the Ministry of Economy by the Union of Trade Unions of Albania, demanding higher salaries and better working conditions for public service employees, an increase in the number of employees, strengthening social dialogue and collective bargaining, as well as stronger protection of trade union rights.

On the UN Public Services Day, the Union of Trade Unions raised the alarm about the state of public services in the country, describing the situation as an emergency that requires immediate intervention. According to them, the lack of personnel and resources is directly affecting the quality of services and the safety of citizens.

"Higher salaries. Today we are raising awareness for better public services, from schools to hospitals. The privatization of public services must be stopped. There are also a number of other unions and the union that want to have their say," said the representative of one of the unions. Miners also joined the protest. One of them pointed out the low pension he receives, while an irony was for the political class. "Rama resigns, Berisha resigns. Let the young people take their place so that they can be part of this system," said another protester.

They stressed that if their demands are not met, their protests will continue.
