Western Europe is facing an unusual heatwave, which has broken historical temperature records for the month of May, especially in the UK and France.

Meteorologists have described the situation as "completely unprecedented" for this time of year. In London, temperatures have reached up to 35 degrees Celsius, levels that are considered very high not only for the month of May, but also for the height of summer.

Meanwhile, in some regions of France the thermometer has reached 39 degrees Celsius, making this the hottest May ever recorded in both countries.

According to meteorologists, extreme temperatures are expected to continue throughout Thursday, while a gradual decrease is expected to begin on Friday.

Temperatures outside any seasonal norm have also been recorded in Spain, especially in inland areas such as Salamanca and Bilbao, where the hot weather is becoming more like August than spring.

Experts warn that heat waves are becoming increasingly frequent and intense due to global climate change.
