He drew attention to the fact that such decisions cannot be made by 14-year-old children, who do not yet have the necessary maturity.
"Irreversible consequences. If a teenager undergoes hormonal or surgical therapy, and then returns to their previous state, this is very difficult or often impossible."
The interruption of processes that are taking place up to that moment is irreversible. That is why therapy is prohibited in the world during adolescence, because it is an age where the child is still searching for his identity. There is fluctuation in decision-making, he is not yet mature enough to make decisions that will determine his entire subsequent life, so the psychosocial assessment comes into play, and not the endocrinologist who can cause irreversible damage with a hormone.
"Hormone therapy should not be allowed in adolescents, as once a person turns 18 there are other recommendations," he said.
