Albanian MP Tritan Shehu has reacted to the recent political developments in Hungary, describing the victory of the opposition led by Péter Magyar as an important moment for the country's European orientation.

In a public statement, Shehu said that "Hungary voted for the United European family," emphasizing that the pro-European message was essential in this electoral process, where the opposition has already secured a significant parliamentary majority and is aiming for up to two-thirds of the seats.

According to him, Magyar's victory is based on several main political pillars. He listed the fight against corruption as the leitmotif of the campaign, the center-right economic policies with low taxes, the strengthening of Hungary's role in the European Union and the stance on social conservatism.

However, Shehu stressed that the most important element that influenced this result was the fight against corruption. “It seems that the fight against corruption was Magyar’s strongest political card,” he said.

He added that citizens are increasingly sensitive to the phenomenon of corruption, describing this as a factor that separates developed societies from those that lag behind in democratic processes.

Developments in Hungary are expected to have an impact not only on the country's domestic politics, but also on its relations with the European Union, at a time when issues of the rule of law and European integration remain in focus.
