Artist Robert Aliaj, invited to the studio of the show "This Week" in News24, has made a strong call to Albanian society and the community of artists to become part of the civic protest taking place in the capital.

Aliaj stated that this is a battle where every family member must feel responsible for the future, but on the other hand he shared a great alarm regarding the behind-the-scenes politics. He warned that the two major parties, the Socialist Party and the Democratic Party, will try in every way to sabotage and divide this organic movement, just as they did a few years ago.

Aliaj expressed his skepticism about the fate of the movement if citizens allow political parties to interfere in their cause, recalling the bitter scenario of the past.

"All parents should come out if they think this situation can be changed. But I am very afraid that they will divide the protest. It happened with the student protest in 2018, when the SP and the DP got involved and divided it in their own ways," Aliaj declared to journalist Nisida Tufa.

Further, Aliaj did not spare criticism of the art world in Albania, reminding artists that they cannot remain indifferent or hide in the face of the concerns of the public that has placed them on a pedestal.

"Artists also have an obligation, because there is a cost to being an artist. Their fame is fed by these people, so artists in Albania must be together with the people in the square," concluded Aliaj.
