A scene that looked like something out of a horror movie has shocked residents of St. Louis, Illinois, after a teenager dressed as a clown allegedly killed an elderly man and then appeared on security cameras threatening residents of a neighborhood. Video released by a home security camera shows a partially-covered man wearing a clown costume approaching a door and looking at the security camera saying, “I’m looking for you.” But the footage took on a much darker meaning after authorities revealed that the man in the video was a 15-year-old suspected of killing 78-year-old John Wesley Allen.

According to police, the teenager stabbed the elderly man at a bus stop in what was described as a “random attack.” Officers who arrived at the scene around 10 p.m. found the victim unresponsive. Shortly before the body was discovered, security cameras had recorded the suspect moving around the area, about three blocks from the crime scene. Residents said he was seen going from house to house, looking out windows and carrying a large knife.

“I thought he was going to kill everyone in the house,” said Lee Palmer, the son of an elderly woman whose camera recorded the suspect. He added that he was relieved his mother didn’t answer the door. Authorities arrested the 15-year-old later that night and he faces a charge of first-degree murder.

The victim, John Wesley Allen, was a U.S. Navy veteran and retired bus driver. His family expressed their grief and shock at the attack. "I wonder why this person would do something like this. He didn't know my brother," said Marie Stanford, a relative of the victim.

Meanwhile, investigators are trying to uncover the motive for the attack, while the community remains shocked by the footage of a teenager disguised as a clown who ended up being linked to a fatal crime.
