Erion Veliaj's testimony is revealed today in the Administrative Court as the latter faces prosecutor Ols Dado. Journalist Klodiana Lala reports for BalkanWeb Details from the trial where Veliaj's appeal for the exclusion of prosecutor Dado from the trial panel is being handled.
Veliaj said he was not for mercy in this court.
"I'm not here for mercy. I'm not here for my family's drama. I'm here to show what this caused the Municipality of Tirana. Nesti Angoni doesn't exist, I don't know who to report!", Veliaj is reported to have said. Meanwhile, the judge in the case told Veliaj to focus on the case at hand. "Focus on the case. The court has a duty to guide the process," the judge said.
Veliaj's reaction was immediate, as he asked, "What damage have I caused to Tirana? Haven't I planted trees? Haven't I built 50 schools and kindergartens?", said Veliaj. Meanwhile, the judge suggested to Veliaj that he focus on the subject of the claim. "Focus on the subject of the claim," he said. The mayor said: "I have a conflict of interest with Ols Dado, because he requested a building permit by calling the prosecutor's office. Dado often came to the Municipality to request permits not only for himself. Putting people in positions when they do not meet the criteria has had serious consequences, not only for me, but for the Municipality of Tirana. Today, I no longer sign any documents at the Municipality of Tirana that have to do with this man. Today, the garbage is everywhere, because I also came here and saw it. The day I was arrested, I inaugurated a kindergarten in Kashar, it has been 14 months since a kindergarten was opened," said the mayor.
