Writer and publicist Ben Blushi spoke on the lunch program with Ola Bruko about his latest book, "Jam Musliman", which has also sparked debates on social networks. Blushi emphasized that the novel is not political in nature, but aims to realistically address the phenomenon of fanaticism and the restriction of individual freedom in society.

"Imagination takes you wherever you want, it's a matter of imagination. I live in Albania, I know this terrain and I describe the reality that gives me the right every day for what I say. The book is against a contingent of fanatics who endanger our freedoms, who attacked me without reading the book," Blushi said.

He explained that he does not violate religious coexistence, but on the contrary, defends it as one of the most important values of Albanian society. “I am an atheist, but I have the right not to believe, just as every believer has the right to believe. Society should be equal for everyone,” the author added.

Blushi revealed that he drew inspiration for the novel from Albanian reality, while recalling moments from his trip to Saudi Arabia, where he visited Mecca as part of a book fair. "I went out of curiosity and saw a peaceful place, where people were stripped of earthly evils. No one stopped me, even though I don't believe it," he confessed.

Regarding the controversy, Blushi said that some publishers rejected the book out of fear of backlash, but later found support from the Onufri publishing house. "I'm sorry that the book is not being judged artistically. Onufri accepted it without even reading it, the publisher is an open-minded person," he said.

In conclusion, the writer declared that he is not afraid of attacks or misunderstandings: "If I have to be afraid for a novel, then everyone should be afraid. I have not committed a crime, I have simply written a story about a man who becomes a Muslim."
