Socialist Party MP, Erion Braçe, invited to the show "This Week" on News24, commented on the political situation within the Socialist Party and the recent debates between former Foreign Minister Elisa Spiropali and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
Braçe revealed that the Socialist Party meeting had lasted about 4-5 hours, while the discussions with Spiropali had only taken a few minutes.
"The meeting lasted about 4-5 hours and Spiropal's story lasted about 5-6 minutes. Household matters are not made public," he said.
The socialist MP said he does not agree with Spiropali's expulsion, emphasizing that the Socialist Party has passed the stage where different opinions were punished.
"Elisa Spiropali should not be expelled. The SP has passed the stage where it can expel people for different opinions," declared Braçe.
He admitted that he himself had moments of dissatisfaction within the party, citing the relationship with the Municipality of Tirana and the ambition to take over its leadership.
"I too am fed up with the Municipality of Tirana, so I said that some things cannot be solved by praying and asked to become mayor myself," he said.
Braçe also commented on Spiropali's public status, where she had requested expulsion from the party, saying that she did not like that way of reacting.
"I didn't like that status of Spiropal where it said 'exclude me'," said the socialist MP.
Further, Brace raised concerns about what he called the "personalization of power" within the Socialist Party, warning that this creates inequality among functionaries and harms service to citizens.
"The personalization of power is a big problem for a political party. It creates inequality between a minister and an MP, or between a director and an MP, where the director is above the MP," he declared.
According to Braçe, ministers or directors who consider the institution as personal property do not serve the public interest.
"A minister who thinks of his field as a personal matter is not in the best interest of public service. Even a director who acts like this does not serve the people," he concluded.
