A serious incident has shocked public opinion in Korça, where a 21-year-old woman has accused surgeon Nikolla Nunka of sexual harassment while she was hospitalized after an appendectomy. According to the girl's testimony, she initially presented herself to the emergency room with severe abdominal pain and vomiting, and after tests, doctors decided to perform an emergency operation. But what was supposed to be a period of treatment and medical care, according to her, turned into a traumatic experience.
The 21-year-old claims that during the days of her stay in the hospital, the surgeon who was taking care of her committed inappropriate actions, touching her in her private parts under the pretext of medical checks and even, according to her, attempted to kiss her. The girl's father, who came from Germany with his family for a vacation in Albania, has also reacted harshly to the case.
He talks about the show 'With an Open Heart' on News24 of moderator and author Evis Ahmeti, that initially there was no suspicion of the doctor, due to his profession and age. According to his testimony, the doctor often took the girl alone in the room for "treatment", while the grandmother was asked to go outside. The family had believed that everything was related to the treatment after the operation, until the moment when the girl exploded and told about the inappropriate behavior of the doctor. The father states that immediately after his daughter's confession he notified the police and detained the surgeon as he was leaving in an ambulance, until the arrival of the officers. In the meantime, the authorities have launched investigations to fully clarify the incident and verify the charges brought against the surgeon. The case has caused strong reactions in public opinion, while the family demands justice and full transparency for what it considers a serious abuse of trust towards the patient. In a telephone conversation for the show 'With an Open Heart' on News24, the girl's father told how he learned of the shocking incident of how the doctor had molested him.
"The girl's condition is shocking. She cries at times. She is also worried about people's comments on social media. I told her not to read or listen too much, justice and the truth will come out. The doctor told her that I will give her a cream, let your mother apply it. I said, okay doctor, I will apply it. I want my daughter to recover so that I can take her to her mother safely. He told me; don't worry, I will see her as my daughter. I am afraid how she will have the surgery, because I have not heard anything about her. I don't know if she had the surgery because she was sick or not. The ultrasound showed that she did not have appendicitis. When he saw the tests, he told me; the girl's tests are wrong, she has appendicitis. We need to operate on her. He told me that we will operate on her in the morning. We operated on her in the morning and then they took the girl to the room. When my mother was there in the room, he had applied the cream to her. The mother was there, but she had said; step aside. The girl told me; I apply this cream myself, there's no need for the doctor to put it on me. When I found out, I went and told him; come here, you criminal. You're in jail. I reported him and he went to the police. He told me; aman, it's a misunderstanding. He confronted the girl, but she didn't accept it. She says it's a misunderstanding. I haven't spoken to my ex-wife, I don't know what to tell her, I can't get ahead of this thing that happened. Because I know how a criminal like that, who has been in jail, comes to work at the hospital again. I've heard all the accusations against him," he said.
