A 20-year-old girl of Albanian origin has become embroiled in a difficult family history in Rimini, Italy, after she decided to leave home to live with her Italian boyfriend.

According to Italian media reports , her parents, aged 44 and 47, originally from North Macedonia, did not approve of the relationship due to religious differences. They are alleged to have constantly pressured the girl and threatened her after she refused to end the relationship. The family, who have lived in Rimini for years, had imposed strict rules on the girl's life, including her dress code, socializing and personal choices. The situation worsened after the 20-year-old began a relationship with a young Italian man who was not Muslim.

Faced with constant pressure, the young woman decided to leave her parents' apartment and go live with her partner. The couple tried to keep the new address a secret, but the parents allegedly began to seek information from relatives, acquaintances and people in the community, until they managed to find out where the two young people lived. After that, according to the investigative file, the girl began to receive frequent messages from family members, accompanied by threats. One of them, according to Italian media, said: "I can find you even if you go to the Moon, because Albanian families are all united."

Another message, according to the investigation, contained the warning: "If you don't come home, you will have a hellish life." Frightened by the situation, the couple turned to the Rimini Police and filed a complaint. But the pressure, according to them, did not stop. In another episode, the parents sent the daughter a photo where the father appeared near the street where her apartment was located with her boyfriend. For the couple, this was proof that the parents had already located the house and could appear there at any moment.

After this episode, the two young men filed another complaint and requested the intervention of the authorities to prevent contact and rapprochement with their parents.

The situation reached its peak in May 2026. According to the investigation, the parents went to the couple's apartment and entered without permission. Italian media report that the situation threatened to end in a physical fight, after the two young people were allegedly threatened with assault. The couple managed to escape to another room, where they locked themselves and called the police. The intervention of the officers prevented further escalation of the situation.

After collecting evidence and the episodes reported, the Rimini Prosecutor's Office decided to prosecute the two parents. They are being investigated at large on charges of stalking and threats. The investigation continues, while the 20-year-old and her partner seek to continue their life together, away from family pressure and the episodes that, according to the reports, have lasted for months.
