Tirana Police have intensified controls on the streets and various areas of the capital.
Over the last 48 hours, hundreds of people and vehicles have been checked, while over 3 administrative measures have been imposed.

The Tirana Local Police Directorate, over the last 48 hours, has intensified field checks, on main road axes and in various areas of the capital.
The Special Operations Force and the Tirana Traffic Police services have conducted surprise checks, focusing on identifying illegal possession of weapons, possession of narcotics, arresting wanted persons, as well as checking luxury vehicles, armored vehicles, vehicles with tinted windows beyond the permitted norms and vehicles with modifications that cause disturbing noises.
As a result of the checks:
* 131 vehicles and 213 citizens were checked and verified;
* 5 people and vehicles were escorted to the Tirana Local Police Directorate for further verifications;
* 7 citizens were arrested/proceeded for drunk driving, driving without a driving license or violating traffic rules;
* 3012 administrative measures have been imposed, for driving under the influence of alcohol, for speeding above the permitted speed limits, for using a mobile phone while driving, for not wearing a seat belt, for tinted windows, for not giving priority to citizens, for wrongful overtaking, as well as for other violations of road traffic rules;
* 34 vehicles have been blocked for various violations and 9 traffic permits have been withdrawn.
The checks will continue uninterruptedly, with a focus on increasing public and road safety, preventing and cracking down on illegalities, and ensuring a safer environment for all citizens.
