Iran rules out reopening the Strait of Hormuz as long as the US blockade of Iranian ports remains in place, the speaker of parliament said on Monday. Bayer Ghalibaf, Iran's chief negotiator, said in a post on Platform X that a full ceasefire only makes sense if it is not violated by the US blockade of Iranian ports.
Opening the Strait of Hormuz is "impossible" with such a "flagrant violation of the ceasefire," he added.
Earlier, Iraqi Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said he "appreciated" Pakistan's efforts to end the war, but did not comment on the extension of the ceasefire unilaterally imposed by Washington.
When asked by reporters about the Pakistani mediators' request to extend the ceasefire - which Donald Trump accepted before it expired - the spokesman limited himself to praising Pakistan's efforts and emphasizing that the Islamic Republic was taking "necessary measures for the security" of the country.
