The Iranian military has denied Azerbaijan's accusations that it was behind a drone attack in the Nakhichevan region that injured two people. In an official statement, the Iranian armed forces stressed that they had not launched any drones into Azerbaijani territory, rejecting claims made by authorities in Baku. According to them, responsibility for the incident can be attributed to Israel.
Earlier, Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry had accused Iran of the attack and warned that the incident "will not go unanswered." Following the incident, authorities in Baku summoned the Iranian ambassador to demand an explanation. Meanwhile, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev responded by declaring that his country does not and will not participate in any military operations against Iran.
"We do not participate and will not participate in any operation against Iran," he said, adding that Azerbaijan is ready to demonstrate its strength against any threat, including from Tehran. According to local media, the drone attack occurred near Nakhichevan airport, which also suffered damage from the explosion. The incident has increased tensions between the two countries at a sensitive moment for security in the region.
