The speaker of Iran's parliament has insisted that fighting must stop in Lebanon before US-Iran peace talks can begin.
In addition to the release of Iran's "blocked assets," a ceasefire in Lebanon must be implemented before any discussions can take place, which are scheduled to take place tomorrow in Pakistan, Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf wrote in X.
"These two issues must be fulfilled before negotiations can begin," he said.
The global release of Iranian assets was part of a 10-point plan proposed by Iran – shared by Iranian state media – that was rejected by the US.
JD Vance, who is leading the American delegation for the talks, has already left for Pakistan.
Ghalibaf warned yesterday that ceasefire violations "have clear costs and STRONG responses."
