Iran has issued another threat to the United States, warning of expanding naval measures in the Persian Gulf and increasing pressure around the Strait of Hormuz. The statement comes at a time when tensions between Tehran and Washington have escalated significantly.

Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, declared in a post on X that Tehran is preparing to establish an "exclusion zone" in the Persian Gulf, in response to what he described as US "economic warfare".

"We will respond to the economic war with a naval blockade zone in the Persian Gulf, up to the perimeter of the blockade," Rezaei wrote, leaving open the possibility of expanding restrictive measures against maritime movement in this strategic area.

The senior Iranian official also called Iran's recent missile launches a "clear warning" to the United States.

Rezaei added that Iran's operational stance towards US warships and military bases has been "essentially adjusted," a statement that signals another step towards escalating the standoff between the two countries.

The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world's most important oil shipping routes, and any restrictions on ship movement in this corridor could have direct consequences for global energy supplies and oil prices.

Rezaei's statements add to concerns about further military and economic escalation in the Middle East, as Iranian threats to American interests and forces in the region become increasingly direct.
