Iraqi authorities have opened the Rabia-Til Kocher border crossing with Syria after 10 years.

Border service representatives reported this.

It was noted that this decision aims to accelerate the supply of oil from land and restore cross-border trade, amid disruptions in maritime transport in the Persian Gulf following the US and Israel's conflict with Iran.

The crossing is located in the northern province of Nineveh and will allow fuel trucks to cross into Syria. In addition, commercial goods traffic is being restored.

Omar al-Waili, head of Iraq's Border Crossings Commission, noted that the opening of the border crossing will allow an increase in the number of trucks to reduce the burden of fuel supplies to Syria. Currently, the bulk of the caravans gather at the Al-Walid border crossing in western Iraq, which remains the only functional crossing point so far.
