Former Minister of Interior, Dritan Demiraj, invited to the show "This Week" on News24, commented on recent developments regarding tensions in Iran and the US embassy's warnings about possible risks to Albania.
Demiraj emphasized that the US embassy's notifications are based on continuous intelligence information, which operates 24 hours a day, all year round. According to him, when indications of potential terrorist threats or attacks by state actors are identified, US embassies immediately warn their citizens in any country.
He added that in addition to public announcements, there is also close cooperation between American structures and Albanian institutions, where detailed information is shared to enable preventive measures to be taken.
"These structures inform the relevant Albanian institutions, such as the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Defense and the SHISH, so that the necessary measures for prevention or response can be taken," said Demiraj.
According to him, such warnings are expected to continue in the future, depending on the risks and threats identified by American and European intelligence services, within the framework of security cooperation.
