Cypriot and Israeli authorities are on high alert to find an Israeli yacht that disappeared in the sea area south of Cyprus, due to storm "Byron". According to information from sources in Israel, five people were on board the ship, whose fate remains unknown.

As reported by Israeli channel N12 and the Jerusalem Post, the yacht set sail from the port of Ashdod bound for Cyprus on Sunday. Communication with the vessel was lost shortly before it approached the Cypriot coast, in a maritime area that was already affected by bad weather.

The Israeli Merchant Marine Administration and Cypriot maritime authorities are in constant contact, while from Nicosia's side, ships of the Republic of Cyprus have been sent to the maritime area where the ship was last seen for searches.
