April 11, 1985 was captured by the propaganda of the time only through official footage. The most invisible part remains the reactions of anti-communists or dissatisfied people, which are found in the reports of the State Security. Today I have selected some comments from the Vlora district. In the reports of the months of April-July 1985, of the head of the Vlora Internal Affairs Branch, Raqi Iftica, for the 8th Branch of the First Directorate of State Security in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, regarding the slogans thrown in the first and second quarter of the year, regarding the death of Enver Hoxha, among other things, it is stated:

"The enemy element and the one with an anti-socialist stance with hostile activity, developed during this 3-month period in the form of agitation and propaganda, have aimed to attack Ramiz Alina, the unity in its ranks, to obscure the work of comrade Enver Hoxha and to voice their support for a change in the situation in our country.

Some of the slogans on the occasion of Enver Hoxha's death:

– "A public meeting was held for the death of Comrade Enver Hoxha and some fainted. I, on the other hand, did not feel sorry at all because he took our souls and livestock."

– "I need to rub some pepper into my eyes to make a few tears come out because my daughters are dying, I can't bring myself to cry. Thank God he died. Hopefully, the rest of us will be saved. Those who invented this system changed it, while this one wanted to keep it until the end...! Brother, on the day Enver Hoxha died, he told me to go home because they have become like beasts and not let this wave take me away."

– "I knew in time that he would die, but with the death of Enver Hoxha we were saved, because he had taken our breath away."

– "Enver Hoxha denied the comrades he worked and fought for his entire life. When Ramiz Alia spoke, he did not mention the class struggle at all...".

– "Ramiz Alia won't last more than 2-3 years. If he's smart, he'll change course, otherwise he'll capitulate."

– "Don't pay attention to the loud noise and swearing, because even then in Russia they did the same thing for Stalin, then they sang his song. So, slowly, because the one who was put in place now (Ramiz Alia), is from the highlands and will have his eyes on Serbia."

– "The last one is gone, Enver Hoxha died. Now there is no one to hold him. These people will start eating each other's heads...".

"I am very happy that Enver Hoxha died. I have been waiting for this death for 15 years, because he was a murderer...! Now it is not known who will take over the government. In the government, they will kill each other for power and discord will begin. This way, people will be free to go wherever they want."

– "The situation in our country after the death of Enver Hoxha will change, because now only 3 months have passed. Khrushchev changed it after 3 years. Khrushchev swore, but later he reversed the situation. This will happen to us too, because historically it has never been seen that a system lasts so long.

Many people are happy about the death of Enver Hoxha, because people had 300-400 heads of cattle, while today they are waiting for meat day as if it were nothing. We are suffering a lot from the economic situation, but there is no salary. All of these people are lying. It would be better if I were in prison, than to be free."

-"Enver Hoxha died. Now we will be better off, because whoever comes to power will open the prison doors and we will be released from exile. I am sure that the system will be destroyed and the first one will not know the second one...!

With the internment that our government did, it would show how strong it was, but if there were 5 armed people, I know how strong they would be. They talk about the progress of the country, but what progress is there here, when this is the most backward country in the world…! Even for us internments, our time will come.
