An unusual case has been discovered by authorities in Skopje, where a 25-year-old woman is suspected of attempting to smuggle narcotics into the Idrizovo prison. According to information, she had gone to visit her imprisoned husband, taking 60 eggs with her. During the search, it was found that 28 of them contained cocaine and marijuana.

The guards' suspicions arose during a routine check, when irregularities were noticed in the packaging. After scanning and manual verification, small bags of cocaine and marijuana were found inside the eggs. The seizure resulted in over 318 grams of marijuana and about 142 grams of cocaine. Immediately after the discovery, the Prosecutor's Office initiated investigative procedures against the 25-year-old, suspected of illegal production and distribution of narcotics.

Investigators suspect that the drugs were destined for the prison's interior, bringing to light the problem of ongoing attempts to smuggle narcotics into North Macedonia's penitentiary institutions.

The prosecution requested house arrest for the suspect, arguing that there is a risk of escape and the possibility of repeating the criminal offense. However, the fact that she is the mother of several minor children, including a five-month-old baby, was also taken into account in considering the measure.
