Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) announced today that it has detained a 57-year-old German citizen suspected of carrying an explosive device with the power equivalent to about 1.5 kg of TNT in her bag. According to Russian authorities, the woman is suspected of targeting a police building in the Stavropol region and that her action was part of an operation organized by Ukrainian intelligence services.
Footage circulating on social media shows her being stopped in a parking lot, lying on the ground as security forces point their guns at her. A backpack is next to her, which is then neutralized by pyrotechnic experts through a controlled explosion.
Russian authorities have not yet provided further details on her identity or the full circumstances of the incident, while claims of Ukrainian involvement have not been independently verified. Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said that in addition to the 57-year-old German national, a man from a Central Asian country, born in 1997, was also arrested on suspicion of involvement in an organized explosives attack plan.
According to the official announcement, the suspect is believed to be acting on behalf of a designated terrorist organization and was ready to activate the explosive device at the appropriate moment, while the woman was suspected of being used as part of the operation.
The FSB claims that its actions were coordinated by individuals linked to Ukrainian special services, who, according to Moscow, posed as part of an international organization banned on Russian territory.
So far, there has been no official reaction or comment from the Ukrainian side regarding these allegations.
