Mayor Erion Veliaj's lawyer, Plarent Ndreca, in a press conference together with lawyer Ben Brandon, said that the delay in the issue of handling Veliaj's security measure has become a problem in itself.
He also emphasized that the Supreme Court should address the issue of the measure and come up with a decision.
"The essential point is the fact that the delay in dealing with the issue of Veliaj's security measure has become a problem in itself. The Supreme Court must immediately address what the Constitutional Court has raised and come to a proportionate decision," he said.
For his part, lawyer Ben Brandon said that in the Veliaj case, real delays have occurred at the highest levels.
Meanwhile, lawyer Ndreca added that the city has suffered damage from the measures taken against Erion Veliaj.
"In fact, despite the Constitutional Court's decision to expedite the case, it took 9 months. We have made two requests to the High Court to expedite it due to the special importance of the subject, the person, I repeat an elected mayor, in office. In conditions when there is no longer any circumstance and reason to be held in prison and the other has the right to exercise his duty just as the citizens of Tirana have the right to have their mayor", said Ndreca, among other things.
