Independent MP who left the Socialist Party, Marjana Koçeku, has commented on the protest and the participation of the diaspora, stating that she supports the movement and that the arrival of Albanians from abroad is becoming a political reality in the country. Invited to the show "Minuta e Parë" on News24 with Ola Bruko, Koçeku said that the diaspora has been fruitful beyond the economic and social aspects, while emphasizing that it has also been present during its arrival in Albania.
"I have supported and continue to support the protest. The arrival of the diaspora is good news and is becoming a political reality of our country. The diaspora has been fruitful, beyond the economic side, but also the social side," she said. Koçeku said that she does not know whether the protests and their demands have brought reflection from Prime Minister Edi Rama or the government, but added that the lack of action makes her doubt a real reflection. She assessed that the activists' demands have been clear and related to facts and political contradictions that have occurred in the country.
She then called for a review of laws that she considered clientelistic, emphasizing that Europeans have also expressed their views on this issue.
"I have supported and support the protest. The arrival of the diaspora is good news and is becoming a political reality of our country. The Diaspora has been fruitful, beyond the economic side, but also the social side. I was present when the Diaspora arrived. I don't know if Rama or the government reflected, but as long as action is missing, I would doubt the existence of reflection itself. The demands of the activists have been clear, in the facts and political contradictions that have occurred in our country. It is late, but deep reflection is required, to start with action; the review of clientelistic laws, those that the Europeans have also spoken about. There is a difference between reflection and action. What has been shown with "Besa" is a political rhetoric, nothing beyond it," she said.
