One of the witnesses to the serious incident in Korça, Kozeta Shakla, has recounted the first moments after 20-year-old Johan Zuko was shot to death. She says she was in the apartment with her mother when she heard a loud noise. Initially, she thought someone might have fallen down the stairs and went out to see what had happened.
"I was inside the house. For a moment I heard a loud noise, as if something had exploded. I told my mom I was going to go out and see what was going on. I said don't let anyone fall down the stairs so I can help them," the witness recounts. As soon as she left the apartment, she heard a woman calling for help and the police and ambulance were called.
"That woman on the third floor, at whose door the incident had taken place, was shouting loudly: 'Aman, please, call the police, the ambulance.' I ran up and saw a man lying on the ground, unconscious," says Shakla. The witness says that when she approached the young man, she saw that he was bleeding heavily.
"I saw the boy there, a two-meter-tall man, a boy lying on the ground, covered in blood. Then blood was pouring from his head. It was terrifying," she says. Shakla says she immediately called the ambulance, and then the police arrived.
"We couldn't get ourselves together at all. I ran downstairs because they were asking me from the ambulance where I was. Then the police came and we ran away with them," she recounts. The witness emphasizes that the victim was not a resident of the building and that she had not seen him before.
"We don't know him at all. He's not from our building. I don't even know where he lives. I just saw him there," she says. The incident has shocked residents of the area, especially because it's a building where families live and where children play every day. "Our children play here every day. It's a big shock. It's God's horror," says the witness. She says that the sight of the young man lying bleeding on the steps of the building is a moment she can't forget. "I can't forget it. I didn't touch him with my hand, I didn't touch him with my hand," she concludes.
