At the height of the debate about his future, alongside Gianni Infantino, as US President Donald Trump has emerged. In a reaction on his social network, Truth Social, Trump stressed that it would be a terrible mistake if it were decided to remove Infantino from the leadership of the world football organization:

"FIFA would make a terrible mistake if, for any reason, it were to consider replacing President Gianni Infantino. He is fantastic and has run a World Cup that was four times more successful than any other tournament ever organized. His departure would negatively impact FIFA's success and revenue ," Trump wrote, among other things.

The US president's statements come shortly after UEFA and two other confederations, the Asian and Central American, issued a joint statement demanding an investigation and the removal of Infantino from FIFA. Discontent with Infantino erupted immediately after the end of the "FIFA2026" World Cup and his proposal to sell 20% of the rights to tournaments organized by FIFA to private companies. Despite his withdrawal from this idea, UEFA and other confederations are now demanding the removal of Gianni Infantino.
