The partner of Ornella Forastefano, the 46-year-old who lost her life overnight after allegedly being severely raped, has been located in the port of Bari, while he was trying to leave Italy.

The suspect is a 42-year-old Albanian national who was declared wanted after the incident. He has been escorted by the authorities and is being questioned by investigators, who are trying to reconstruct the dynamics of the incident and determine whether he is responsible for the woman's death. Up to now, no judicial action has been taken against him.

The incident occurred at around 03:00. Ornella Forastefano's body was found outside the Emergency Room of the Trebisacce hospital, while doctors tried to resuscitate her, but without success. The woman had suffered serious injuries and multiple traumas, which were suspected to have been caused by the blows.

After the incident, the Carabinieri's investigations focused on her partner, with whom the 46-year-old had been living for about a year. The 42-year-old, according to authorities, is known for criminal records in the field of narcotics.

The investigations are being carried out by the Investigative Unit of the Cosenza Provincial Command, the Company of Cassano allo Ionio and the Tenenza of Trebisacces.

Ornella Forastefano ran a bar in the centre of Trebisacce with her two children. According to Italian media, she was the daughter of Antonio Forastefano, who was killed in 1999 as he was leaving his business in Marina di Sibari. She was also the granddaughter of Domenico Forastefano, and the family has been mentioned in the past in the context of investigations into 'Ndrangheta clans.

However, authorities have not yet announced any connection between these family circumstances and the 46-year-old's death.
