The Italian Ministry of Health has activated a surveillance procedure for four passengers who came into contact with a woman hospitalized in Johannesburg who died from coronavirus.
The contact details of the four passengers have been obtained, announced the Ministry of Health, which then forwarded the information to the competent Regions to activate surveillance procedures, within the framework of the principle of maximum caution.
Following the ministry's announcement, Tuscany's Regional Health Councillor Monia Mini announced that a woman had been placed in quarantine.
"We immediately activated the necessary protocols and contacted the woman, who lives in Florence," said Mini, adding that "she has been placed in preventive quarantine pending the clinical tests required to verify possible infection with the virus."
