Just days after the passing of country music icon Dolly Parton, her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has been vandalized.

Following news of the singer's death at the age of 80, fans gathered near her star in Hollywood, leaving flowers, candles, cards and other mementos in her honor.

But on Monday, September 1, a visitor noticed that the star had been damaged. According to photos posted on social media, the vandalism had specifically affected Dolly Parton's name on the memorial plaque. Ana Martinez, a spokeswoman for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, confirmed the damage and said the organization was made aware of the incident after a fan posted photos on social media.

"It appears that the star has been vandalized and damaged," Martinez said. She also said that flowers and items left by fans were temporarily removed so that repairs could begin. According to her, the restoration is being carried out by the Hollywood Historic Trust, the organization responsible for the maintenance and repair of the stars on the Walk of Fame.

The work is expected to be completed soon. After the surface dries and polishes, the star will be accessible to fans again. Dolly Parton received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in June 1984, becoming one of the most recognizable symbols of the American entertainment industry. Her death was announced on August 25 by her nephew and personal security team member, Brian Seaver, in a video posted on social media.

Later, the singer's representatives confirmed that Parton had passed away after a "short battle" with cancer. The singer was buried on August 28, while the ceremony, according to a source quoted by American media, was simple and in accordance with her wishes.
