A former Thai lawmaker shot a senior local official on Monday and, shortly after the incident, joined a YouTube show to tell the hosts what had happened.
Thai police have arrested Chalong Reawraeng, a former MP for Nonthaburi province, following a shooting incident.
The victim, Thongchai Yenprasert, president of the Nonthaburi Provincial Administrative Organization, was taken to hospital along with his driver, who was also shot during the incident.
According to local reports, both were **seriously injured** and are receiving medical treatment.
After the shooting, Reawraeng joined a YouTube program where he informed the presenters of his action, causing uproar for the unusual way he chose to report the event.
The incident comes a few days after another massacre
The incident occurred just days after another serious gun incident in the same province.
In that case, a teenager killed seven people at his home and school and then killed himself. The incident was described as the worst mass shooting in Thailand since 2022.
So far, authorities have not found any connection between the two incidents.
Police are continuing their investigations to determine the motive for the attack on the local official and the circumstances that led to the gunfight.
